The 26 August 2026 flash floods in Nepal (Bhotekoshi/Trishuli rivers) were among the deadliest in the country's history. The Gandak river carried debris and remains downstream into Kushinagar and Maharajganj districts of Uttar Pradesh, and authorities in eastern UP and north Bihar remain on vigil for river levels during the ongoing monsoon withdrawal phase.
